Mascot is An advertising character is a
fictional character that appears in advertising and marketing
materials for a given product or service. A well-thought-out
advertising campaign with the mascot like for instance, that of the
Vodafone puppy, can improve brand recall. Best of all, the mascot
can turn a two-dimensional logo into a three-dimensional one with
advertising images being even made to walk, wave and please crowds
like the evergreen Mickey Mouse. What's more, mascot advertising is
a cost-effective way to help consumers remember your brand. A
company could pay Gwyneth Paltrow or Angelina Jolie millions of
dollars to represent it, but if you don't have the budget of Estee
Lauder or St. John, then it obviously can't.
What is needed in this case is some creativity and a four-legged
friend who could take the brand ahead. After all, who doesn't
immediately recognize Tony the Tiger? Mascot advertising can leave
an indelible impression on the consumer's mind provided a lot of
thought goes into the development of the character or mascot. A
company may have to spend some money on this but take care to ensure
that the character is professional. Never ever let the character
look amateurish and cheaply produced.
After all, the mascot should be able to empower the brand and teach
consumers "who" the product is, what the "product" does, and "why"
consumers should buy it. Mascot branding should add value to a
company's products and services. In the long run, it should help
create brand equity that is an important intangible asset.
